Services

Our services are all free and available to anyone who is a survivor of domestic violence regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, immigration status, age or disability. We are here to help. Our services include, but not limited to:

24-Hour Crisis Hotline: 334-749-1515

The Domestic Violence Intervention Center provides a 24-hour crisis line where advocates assess callers and provide them with resources and information based on their specific needs to include shelter, safety planning, outreach services, and referrals to outside organizations.

Emergency Shelter/Safety Planning

Emergency shelter is offered to domestic violence victims a safe place for those fleeing domestic violence.

Case Management

Upon entering shelter clients are offered a case manager to work with him/her on setting and accomplishing goals he/she has set for themselves and their children. Such goals may include finding housing, employment, and daycare for the children. In addition, clients may also need assistance with getting clothing and financial assistance. Case Management is offered to both outreach clients and shelter residents.

Court and Legal Advocacy

The Criminal Justice system can be overwhelming and hard to navigate. Our advocate can assist survivors with their legal options of Protection from Abuse Orders, Victim’s Compensation, Court hearings and divorce.

Child Advocacy

It is important to help your child(ren) build the skills and self-esteem they need to keep them safe. Our Advocate provides shelter residents with information and resources to enroll their children in school, daycare and after school activities. Children in shelter are provided with educational activities and support groups weekly. DVIC staff provides weekly parenting classes and tips for effective discipline.

Therapy

Licensed Professional Therapist works with domestic survivors using a variety of therapeutic methods, the therapist will work with survivor as they process their trauma.

Support Group

Support groups are provided to shelter residents and outreach clients. Support group topics range from Safety Planning to Self-Care. DVIC provides in-shelter support group on a weekly basis to shelter residents.

Advocacy and Supportive Services

DVIC staff provides resources to clients based on their individualized needs. Clients meet with staff to organize and prioritize their goals. Clients are provided resources for achieving his/her goals. Such resources include: legal services, housing, employment, transportation, daycare, clothing, counseling, public assistance, and financial assistance. Clients requesting therapeutic counseling are referred to a licensed counselor.

Outreach & Education

DVIC educates clients and the community on the dynamics of domestic violence and provide outreach services to victims. Outreach services are offered by the SAIL Specialist who work out of the local Department of Human Resources office. Education and outreach is provided to the community on topics such as workplace violence, responding to domestic violence, healthy relationships, and dynamics of domestic violence.

Transportation

Transportation is provided to Shelter clients who do not have vehicles in an effort to assist him/her with accomplishing their goals such as transportation to seek employment or to current place of employment, to locate housing, medical appointments, and to children’s school when the bus is not available.
